Jeffree Star Cosmetics Mini Nudes Velour Liquid Lipstick Collection

Okay, I'm looking forward to sharing this post with you today because I will be reviewing and swatching the new limited editon mini nudes collection released by Jeffree Star Cosmetics and boy are they pretty!

I have only owned 1 velour liquid lipstick by Jeffree Star Cosmetics and that is the MANNY MUA collaboration in the shade I'm Shook and I was very impressed with the formula, pigment and longevity of the lipstick so seeing this collection made me very excited to try more from his range at a discounted price.

You can buy the collection on the official Jeffree Star Cosmetics website/Beautylish for $52 but you do have to pay postage/customs on these sites, or Beauty Bay for £45 which is where I purchased mine, I got free delivery too. So sorry if they are sold out when I post this but he has said he will be restocking so it's worth signing up to updates on the sites if you are interested in buying the set.

The collection includes 8 mini liquid lipsticks, all half the size of the full size tubes, 7 of them are his top selling nude lipsticks and 1 being a brand new shade exclusive for the collection.

  • Skin Tight (new shade) - Soft nude pink.
  • Mannequin – Cool toned nude.
  • Celebrity Skin – Soft brown nude.
  • Posh Spice – Grey taupe.
  • Rose Matter – Soft neutral coral.
  • Gemini – Warm terracotta nude.
  • Leo – True honey brown.
  • Androgyny – Plum mauve.

Firstly I have to share with you the delivery experience that was utter rubbish. It was such a nightmare and very typical for the certain delivery courier.. The parcel took alot longer than usual to be despatched and delivered, usually Beauty Bay are super speedy but I could forgive them for that, maybe they were just super busy.

The day it was supposed to reach me (I stayed in all morning/early afternoon waiting) I had an email saying it was signed for and safely delivered..not the case. Turns out the Hermes courier tried to pull a fast one and pinch it! After many calls and live chats online with Hermes & Beauty Bay about this, I finally had my package on my door step 30 minutes after I put in my complaints. And literally it was just dumped at my back door with a 'in a safe place' card laying on the ground and a tampered with box, it was half open! No proper attempt to deliver was made, so safe to say I wasn't a happy bunny. I did make a complaint about the delivery but I never heard anything back from Hermes.

After all that hassle I was really hoping this collection was going to be worth it.

The lipsticks come in a big cardboard box which tbh is abit hard to store, unless you have alot of shelf space or a big vanity I'm not too sure where you would put this, currently the box is led under my bed with the lipsticks sat on my dressing table due to having no space for it at the moment.

The outer packaging says 'open here for nudes' on the side of the lid which I find quite clever and very typical for Jeffree Star and his humour. I love the striped design and colours on the box which kinda corresponds with the nude/mauve shades you get in the package with his gold logo on the outter packaging and the inside too. The shade names are also printed on the inside of the box, very helpful if you like to keep the lipsticks stored in the box and on display.

The liquid lips themselves are so cute and very handy for popping in your bag on the go but I feel like I have been mislead by Jeffree Star and I'll explain why.. He stated in his reveal video on Youtube that all the tubes will be filled to just above the small stars on the pink rim of the packaging but a few of mine show there is way less product in the tube. I have seen quite a few people experience this problem aswell.

It very clearly shows there is only just above half in a couple of the bottles, not full to the top like Jeffree claimed. £45 doesn't seem like such a good deal to me now, I feel abit conned if I'm honest. Myself and a number of others have tweeted Jeffree about this issue and he hasn't responded to anyone. I emailed Beauty Bay and they said it was a manifacturing issue and offered me a 30% refund which was really nice of them to do. Still Jeffree has made no comment on the issue.

Despite the error, every lipstick was consistant in the formula and felt exactly like the I'm Shook liquid lip I already own. Each one lasted a really long time on the lips, even with a lip balm used underneath to make it feel more comfortable but these by no means feel drying or uncomfortable to wear without one. Each dried completely matte really quick.

I'm not one to wear nude shades but I thought I would step out of my comfort zone with these and having minis would be a great way to try before I buy a full size. Safe to say I love all of the colours in the collection except Posh Spice, that was way too grey for my skin tone but I'm sure if you love that 90's look this lip colour would be ideal for you.

All the nudes ended up being quite flattering on me which I never expected, always assumed those kind of shades would wash me out but I was wrong. They can fade after a few hours if you eat alot etc which is to be expected but reapplying is effortless and doesn't leave the lips looking patchy or crusty. I found the lighter shades fade quite nicely though, you can get away without reapplying unless you want full opacity all day.

My favourite shades out of the collection is Rose Matter & Mannequin, I think these 2 look the best on me for everyday wear even though they are more outside my comfort zone but honestly every shade is gorgeous in its own right.

If you can't get your hands on the mini collection I would still 100% recommend picking up the full size options Jeffree has. Formula and colour selection is top notch. I will be sure to pick up some full sizes once I have finished the minis.

Thanks for reading,
