London Day Out & Haul

If you read my last post then you would know I visited London for a blogger event with my best friend Kayla last weekend, if you missed it then you can catch up HERE

When you visit London it would be a crime not to dive in and do some shopping, everytime I go, which is a couple of times a year, I always make sure I pick up some things I wouldn't usually buy at home or online..I always have a list saved on my phone that I like to call 'the splurge list.'

It was my birthday on the 20th June, 5 days before the trip so I had some birthday money to spend and also payday just passed so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to tick some things of my splurge list.

Whenever me and Kayla go to London our first stop is always the Charlotte Tilbury Flagship store at Covent Garden. It's so beautiful and luxurious, how can you walk past without entering? Newsflash..YOU CAN'T!
I am a huge fan of Charlotte's Matte Revolution lipsticks and ever since I first visited the flagship I have been dying to try the Airbursh Flawless Finish Powder in shade Fair which is £33, so this time I had to pick it and ohhh my gosh I am so glad I did!!

This powder is everything I imagined and more! It is so finely milled, when applied to the skin it's like there is nothing there but it is still blurring imperfections and reducing the appearance of pores. Such a beautiful powder and the packaging as always is stunning..Charlotte Tilbury can do no wrong!

After a stroll around Covent Garden we decided to head straight to the event so we could figure out where we are going and actually it was pretty simple to find so we had an hour to kill and luckily there was a cute little pub right next door where we had a drink and filled up on some delicious chips.

But of course, in proper blogger style we had to take some outfit pictures in front of some beautiful London houses..I felt so bloggeresque but sadly it didn't turn out quite as cute and chic like others make it look ha!

After the event we took a very very short walk down to the Embankment where we found the Benefit Cosmetics Good Ship at R.S Hispaniola on the River Thames. I have been dyinggg to get on this boat since I found out about it a few months ago.

On the ship you can have a meal, afternoon tea, drinks and also shop! What more could a girl want? Me and Kayla went to the top deck which was kitted out with pink fake grass and enjoyed some cocktails in the sun with a great view of the London Eye.

The atmosphere was very chilled and relaxing. The staff were so nice aswell, I could of stayed there all day but as soon as we went indoors it did start raining so we timed that right. Inside there was seperate areas for dining, beauty treatments and shopping

We got the waiter to take a picture of us infront of the London Eye and just as he was about to take the photo, The Red Arrows flew above us and thank god the waiter was smart and took some photos of it for me! That day was the celebration of gay pride so I think that might of been why there was a fly by.

After our cocktails and photos we went downstaires so I could buy a new bronzer which leads me to my next splurge product..

As mentioned I was planning on buying the number 1 selling bronzer Hoola but just before I picked it up I seen on the till counter the 'Cheekathon' pallet which has 1 bronzer and 4 blushers, all full size for only £40! This has been on my list for a couple of months but never thought I would get it because it is a limited edition item

To buy this online it is £44.50 but because we purchased on the boat we got an exclusive 10% off which is amazing! Each full size box bronzer or blush retails for £23.50 each so thats a saving of around £77!! Such an incredible bargain, I would of been stupid not to pick it up! Kayla also picked one up despite being on a budget.

The pallet includes:

  • Dandelion - Sheer pink powder, perfect as a brightening face powder.
  • Hoola - Matte bronzer, perfect for contouring.
  • Rockateur - Rose gold cheek powder, perfect as a blush topper.
  • Dallas - Dusty rose powder, great for bronzer if you are fair skinned or a flush of colour on the cheeks as a blusher for deeper skin tones.
  • CORALista - Coroal toned blush with a very slight sheen.

Once we left the Benefit ship we headed to Regent Street and Oxford Street where we wanted to mainly visit Liberty's since neither of us have been there before then go to Selfridges so Kayla could hit the MAC counter and see what else there is on offer.

Liberty's is a stunning building with the front doors being in full bloom of colourful flowers and beautiful decor inside. We mainly went there so I could go to the Hourglass counter but we took a stroll around the some other areas of the building and fell in love with so many items, if only we were rich! Would of had a field day for sure!

So like I said I mainly wanted to go there for the Hourglass counter so I could pick up a ambient lighting powder, something else that is now ticked off my splurge list. I couldn't decide if I wanted the pallet or just a single powder, the lady at the counter tested each on myself and Kayla and both looked stunning and in the end I picked the Diffused lighting powder which retails for £38.

The Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder in the shade Diffused Light is a pale yellow powder which reduces redness and gives you a soft glow to the skin. There is hints of shimmer throughout the product and it does transfer onto the skin but not in such an obnoxious way, it is very subtle and makes your skin look healthy and youthful.

I love using this most to set my under eye concealer to give a more brightening effect to my often tired eyes or a generous dusting on the cheekbones to create a soft highlight.

This is the second time I have visited London on the same day as gay pride, just like last year their was an amazing atmosphere and very colourful depite the grey weather throughout the whole of London, everybody was in high spirits and singing/dancing around the streets, was so nice to see positivity everywhere which I think was needed after the EU referendum results.

Although I didn't buy loads, I did end up spending way more than I wanted to but I am so pleased I did. All the products I got I absolutely love and I am pretty sure they are going to be favourites for a long time to come!

I had a great day with great company, I wish I could go back and re-live it all! Hopefully more opportunities will come up so this can happen more often.
