Top 5 Lipsticks of 2015

2015 was a great year for me with discovering new lipsticks and brands. I mainly wore one shade inparticular at the start of 2015 which was 'Natural beauty' by Essence, a beautiful everyday soft pink which was perfectly subtle for work and super cheap aswell(BONUS!). But now i've expanded my collection which I've realised now mainly consists of red and berry shades. I finally managed to pick out my top 5 to share with you.

Revlon Colorburst matte balm - 225 Sultry. £7.99
This is the cheapest of the 5, being a drugstore product. You can easily find these matte balms at Boots or Superdrug and any other store that has a Revlon stand. It is a beautiful subtle berry, plum shade with hints of a brown(Yes I suck at describing things.) Has a peppermint scent to it and feels slightly tingly when I first apply it which I like. When I see the word matte on any product I automatically think 'uhoh, this is going to be drying' but no, I had a pleasant surprise when I first applied it. It is a smooth and velvety consistancy but still has that matte look, feels very moisturising and comfortable to wear but I don't find these balms last a huge amount of time on me, but lipsticks never do on my lips sadly. For the price I can't complain.

MAC Viva Glam 1 £15.50
This was the first Mac lipstick I ever purchased and it has been my go to red for nights out ever since. Every girl needs that perfect red in her makeup bag and for me this is it. This lipstick first came out in 1994 and the full RRP for the lipstick goes to the MAC Aids Fund, since then they have came out with a further 5 lipsticks as part of the Viva Glam collection. This is a gorgeous deep red and has a matte formula but again feels creamy on the lips and doesn't dry out, lasts a good amount of time and of course the typical vanilla scent of Mac lipsticks just draws you in. A must have for any red lip lover.

MAC - Twig £15.50
A lovely everyday pinky, nude shade with a slight hint of brown. Satin finish so it's not too creamy but not too matte either, the perfect inbetween. I find this lipstick pairs perfectly with any look and you can build the colour up so it is abit deeper or apply lightly for a more subtle look. Comfortable to wear and lasts around 4 hours on me before I have to touch up, maybe abit longer if paired with a lip liner.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution - Red Carpet Red  £23
Now Charlotte Tilbury has changed the lipstick game for me forever and has quickly became my favourite brand of all time. Her cosmetics are on the more expensive side but man they are worth it. Has stunning pure gold, sleek packaging that feels really strudy and expensive. These lipsticks are different from the rest because Charlotte has transformed these into magic. Yes, you read correctly, magic.

Enriched with new-generation 3D glowing pigments for lips that look lit-from-within and an optical ‘matte-trick’ to create the appearance of wider, fuller lips.”-Charlotte Tilbury

I totally agree with that statement. Throughout the product you can see fine hints of glitter, this doesn't transfer onto the lips but I do think this is what gives that illusion of fuller lips. Don't ask me how but it does, I promise. It is a beautiful true red, just like the name suggests, the red lip you always see on the red carpet. Lasts a good amount of time on the lips if used with a lipliner but I do find this lipstick to be abit more drying on my lips compared to the next one I will be talking about! Full of oils to help nourish the lips and comes in 10 different shades to complete any look.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution - Walk of Shame £23
Leaving the best till last. This is my all time favourite lipstick that I own from my whole collection. I never intended to purchase this as I had others on my list I wanted to get first but when I was at the Charlotte Tilbury counter in Selfridges, London with my good friend Kayla who was also branching out to the incredible CT lipsticks, I came across this one. I tried it on and instantly fell in love. On me this is a very muted brown shade but with a very slight hint of berry tones running through it. I used to wear the Essence lipstick that I mentioned above everyday but this lipstick has well and truly taken it's place. It lasts longer than any other lipstick does and feels much more creamy than the Red Carpet Red lipstick which is weird since they are from the same collection. It is matte but has a luminous look to it aswell.(Can you tell what type of finishes I like haha.) Again, has all the same qualities as the liptick mentioned above with its almighty magic ;) Has a lovely vanilla scent like the Mac ones do. I am always getting compliments when I wear this, even the staff in Selfridges were loving the way it looked on me so that obviously meant I had to purchase. I can see this being my favourite all throughout 2016. If you can get to a CT counter or even her new and first ever store in Covent Garden, London (which is stunning and glamorous) then I would highly recommend going over and giving this a try. It is just beautfiul!

Let me know your favourite lipsticks of 2015!
