Drugstore Haul and First Impressions

I feel like I haven't had a good ol' splurge in a while and I've seemed to run out of most things all at once so I figured it would be a good chance to go shopping and share with you what I got. Most are repurchases that I love, with a couple of new items I can't wait to try. The shops I ventured into were Boots, Superdrug and The Bodyshop.

Acnecide Benzoyl Peroxide 5% spot fighting gel £9.98 - Boots
This is one item I can't go without when I am going through those nasty, angry breakouts. This gel, which is more a cream is the only thing that will really calm down my spots and eliminate redness within an hour since Benzoyl Peroxide is a key ingredient to fight bacteria in your skin which causes breakouts. I just dab a little bit on each spot after cleansing and the area visably calms down a lot, it is quite drying so I wouldn't recommend using this all over your face or in large quantities. You can buy this over the counter in Boots and you have to be over 16 to purchase.

Boots beautiful hair mask for dry/damaged hair £3.50 - Boots
Out of all the hair masks I have tried over the years this is my favourite and most effective one. Specifically for dry and damaged hair and is enriched with organic argan oil and other oils. I tend to leave this on overnight once I have washed my hair then rinse out in the morning. It leaves my hair silky soft and so easy to manage once dry which can be quite difficult with my bleached hair. For the price of £3.50 it is a great product to have in your bathroom that actually works.

The Bodyshop Mandarin and Tangelo scented candle £10
This is my first candle from The Bodyshop and I am very pleasently surprised, I did originally want to get the Aloe & Soft Linen scented one but my friend picked up the last one so I decided to go with my next favourite. This candle has a lovely orange scent to it with a very very pale peach coloured wax. I haven't started burning this one yet but even with it just being sat on my shelf I can smell it as soon as I enter my room. I had a voucher code so I ended up getting this for 20% off along with my 10% off with my loyalty card.

The Bodyshop All-In-One Instablur Primer £14
One of my favourite pore filling primers, it's so good that I am now on my 3rd tube. This is perfect for anyone with oily skin and has those annoying large pores that can be hard to disguise. It has a silicone texture which does come out abit thick but once blended into the skin it creates a smooth canvas before applying makeup and banishes those shiny areas aswell as filling in those pores for a flawless finish! If you don't want to pay the price of a high end pore minimising primer like Benefit Porefessional then I would suggest taking a look into this one. Again I received 20% off + 10% loyalty discount.

The Bodyshop nail file £1
Just your standard nail file, always a must have in any ladies handbag. Was £2 but I got this in the sale that was reduced to £1 but with my discounts I got it for something around the 80p mark.

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails with Nylon Nude £4.95 - Superdrug
The best clear polish I have found, I use this as a base and top coat and it really makes my nail colour last longer and helps prevents chipping. It has a nylon formula with silk proteins to help strengthen and protect against splitting, chipping and breaking.

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Polish CHAI £3.99 - Superdrug
I have been after a lovely true grey polish for a while and came across this one from Barry M. I love the Gelly Hi Shine range from Barry M so I thought I would love this too. Sadly I am very disappointed, the colour looks like it would be that lovely grey I am looking for but I was wrong. The colour comes out a more teal toned colour which is not what I am looking for, although it does give that beautiful gelish effect without the price tag of a real gelish manicure. The search continues for that perfect grey.

Rimmel Brow This Way Styling Gel Medium Brown £3.99 - Boots
A perfect gel formula to set your brows and is so easy to use. This is the second brow mascara I have tried, the first being the Maybelline Brow Drama but I really wasn't too keen on that one. This gel gives a more defined look to your brows and keeps them set all day with no smudging or fading. Somedays I will just use this on my eyebrows without any other product and it still gives me that full brow effect thanks to the brown tint.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer 10 Ivory £5.49 - Superdrug
I've had my eye on this concealer for a while and finally took the plunge to give it a try. I got mine in the shade 10 Ivory which seems an ok match for my pale complexion. I have used this concealer twice so far and It seems pretty good. I still prefer my collection concealer but this has great coverage and is easy to blend. Rimmel claims it illuminates the under eye area and visibly gives you that awakened look while concealing those pesty blemishes, I personally don't think this illuminates my under eye area, I feel this actually mattifies my under eyes but I prefer this.

Collection Lasting Perfecion Concealer 1 Fair - £4.19 - Boots
My holygrail concealer! I've gone through atleast 5 of these, I can't get enough. Full coverage and easy to blend at an affordable price. It doesn't crease easily and I don't find I have to set it with a setting powder quickly either. But I have to say the colour selection does suck. Starting at 1 fair, 2 cool medium, 3 warm medium and lastly 4 dark. Not a great variety but I managed to find one that suited my skin tone okay. I will be continuing to repurchase, you can't go wrong for £4.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation Combination/Oily 150 Buff £12.99 - Boots
After finishing my first bottle I had to quickly repurchase this and once I got into Boots I seen that Revlon had a 2 for £14 offer on foundations/primers so I jumped at the chance considering 1 foundation is £12.99, I thought it was a great deal. I have combination skin so I opted to get this foundation to suit my skin type which helps control oil and gives a velvet-matte finish. They also have the same foundation for normal/dry skin. Medium - Full coverage but for me its more on the full side, it has SPF 6 which isn't too bad and doesn't really give that white cast in flash photography. I struggle to find foundations that suits me but this one seems to be going down well.

Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer £12.99 - Boots
I haven't heard much about this primer but since it was part of the 2 for £14 deal I thought I would give it a try. I have only tried this once so far, and It's okay, I haven't noticed that it made my foundation last longer but it did make my skin smooth and the foundation did apply well. It's a lightweight consistancy that doesn't feel sticky at all. It claims to even skintone and fill in fine lines and poresand I agree with that, my pores did seem slightly smaller but I did have to go on top with my bodyshop instablur primer aswell. Overall, I am liking it so far.

Hope you all enjoyed my little haul!
I'm sure there will be plenty more in the future :D
